The Bereavement Counselling Charity is a local, independent charity, formed in 1989 providing support across the following areas: Denmead, East Hampshire, Emsworth, Havant, Hayling Island, North Portsmouth and Waterlooville. We believe that by respecting and connecting with the grief of an individual, we can support a person's journey of change following their loss.

We are looking for someone who wants to volunteer their time and knowledge to support The Bereavement Counselling Charity with their aims.

We welcome applications from people of all ages and backgrounds, looking for someone who is keen to use their already existing finance experience for a good cause or someone eager to further develop their finance experiences. You will receive full training on all responsibilities of a treasurer, and you would commit to cover the role for at least 6 months during maternity leave.

Responsibilities of the Treasurer:

  1. To manage the finances and to ensure the accounts are up to date and accurate.

  2. To work through the finances with the chair supporting them with any financial matters.

  3. To process invoices, expenses and payroll.

  4. To process money received from any source promptly, keeping a record of donations received.

  5. To provide a financial update at trustee meetings.

  6. To  audit and submit the annual accounts to the Charities Commission.

  7. To work with other Trustees and the Chair on the strategic plan.

Though the Treasurer isn't required to be a qualified accountant we do request they have some financial knowledge and experience. We expect all our volunteers to have an interest in helping people who are faced with bereavement.

To apply please send a covering letter and CV to: treasurer@bereavementcharity.org.uk

The post holder will undertake a basic DBS check.

The Bereavement Counselling Charity is committed to equality and diversity.
