This is a great opportunity to gain experience in a Treasurer role and learn how to ensure effective resourcing for a business strategy and operational plans or if you already master these skills then to put them into practice and do something good for the community.
We are a local, independent charity, formed in 1989 providing support across the following areas: Denmead, East Hampshire, Emsworth, Havant, Hayling Island, North Portsmouth and Waterlooville. We believe that by respecting and connecting with the grief of an individual, we can support a person's journey of change following their loss.
We are looking for someone who wants to volunteer their time and knowledge to support The Bereavement Counselling Charity with their aims.
We welcome applications from people of all ages and backgrounds, looking for someone who is keen to use their already existing finance experience for a good cause or someone eager to further develop their finance experiences. You will receive full training on all responsibilities of a Treasurer, but the role can be flexible and focus on only areas you prefer to provide assistance in.
Responsibilities of the Treasurer with which you could be helping, depending on the time you can dedicate to volunteering:
-
To manage the finances and to ensure the accounts are up to date and accurate.
-
To work through the finances with the Chair supporting them with any financial matters.
-
To process invoices, expenses and payroll.
-
To process money received from any source promptly, keeping a record of donations received.
-
To provide a financial update at Trustee meetings.
-
To audit and submit the annual accounts to the Charities Commission.
-
To work with other Trustees and the Chair on the strategic plan.
The role doesn't require you to be a qualified accountant, ideally we prefer they have some financial knowledge or experience and want to gain more experience in such a role through volunteering.
To apply please send a covering letter and CV to: treasurer@bereavementcharity.org.uk
