Volunteer Counsellors

If you are a qualified or student counsellor (with a fitness to practice certificate or getting one soon) and would like to join our team of volunteer Bereavement Counsellors then we would love to hear from you.

All Counsellors are required to attend our Bereavement Counselling - Essentials training course, which takes place annually.

Places on this course are offered on a first come first served basis via a fully completed and accepted application form.

Please note that we are not recruiting counsellors for 2024.

What Joining the Bereavement Counselling Charity Means

Our Commitment

A 20-hour in-house bereavement training programme
An opportunity to work with clients in their own homes, in the Havant Borough, North Portsmouth, Petersfield and surrounding areas, via video conferencing or over the phone
Monthly group supervision with a qualified supervisor
Travel expenses up to 30 miles per visit
Further CPD opportunities as and when funding allows

Your Commitment

A fully completed application form
Two satisfactory references
Fitness to practice certificate for student counsellors
Successful DBS Check
100% attendance of our Bereavement Counselling Essentials Training course
A commitment to work with 2-3 clients per week for a minimum of 18 months
Attendance at monthly supervision sessions
Ability and willingness to support clients in the areas covered by the charity

To become a valued member of our Counselling team you must attend our Bereavement Counselling Essentials training;
